Jenna’s Purdue Graduation Photos

It’s May again, which means the academic year at Purdue is coming to a close and graduation sessions are back! Jenna just finished up her nursing program, so we met up for some celebratory Purdue graduation photos on campus.

Weather can be a bit unpredictable in the spring, but we ended up with balmy temperatures and a nice sunset. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Campus locations for grad photos

We chose a few of Jenna’s favorite spots on campus for her Purdue graduation photos.

We started at the Purdue University Gateway Arch in front of the Purdue Memorial Union. Hot tip: the Gateway Arch can get *crazy* busy around graduation season. There is often a long line waiting for their turn to take pictures. I recommend choosing this location just on weekdays and during off-hours, like mornings or before golden hour, that way you’re not wasting your precious photo time standing in line! Because Jenna and I scheduled her session to start just before golden hour, we barely had to wait at all and got to make the most of the rest of her session.

From there, we headed over to the Bell Tower, then the Engineering Fountain and Hovde Hall. She brought some of her nursing mementos for a keepsake flatlay photo that I loved. Finally, how insanely beautiful is that pink flowering tree? I found out it’s a horse chestnut, and now I want to photograph everyone in front of it.

This girl has such a bright future ahead of her. If I ever need a medical procedure, I trust her behind the scalpel. 🙂 Congratulations, Jenna!

Jenna's Purdue graduation photos featured pictures at the new Union arch.
I love a close-up photo of a graduation stole! The seal makes a fun feature for Purdue graduation photos.
We also photographed in front of a blooming pink horse-chestnut tree, which might be my new favorite flora on campus.
Jenna will be an operating room nurse! Tossing your cap is a staple for Purdue graduation photos.
I know sometimes a graduation cap can mess up your hair, so holding it is a great way to include it in a photo.
Jenna also wore the most gorgeous bow heels for her Purdue graduation photos.
Now that she's a graduate, she can walk under the Bell Tower without fear of any grade repercussions!
Standing portraits at the base are nice too.
There are some lovely shaded benches around the Bell Tower that make for a great portrait spot.
Did you know the proper name for a sash is a stole?
I always recommend taking a couple portraits without any of your graduation gear on. They're great timeless keepsakes that way and make excellent headshots if you need one for your new job.
We set up a flatlay of Jenna's graduation gear, and I think this is a fun visualization of her next giant leap in life.
Her custom sweatshirt was such a fun touch.
The pillars in front of Hovde Hall are one of my favorite photo spots on campus!
Who can skip the Engineering Fountain for their Purdue graduation photos? Trick question because it's a favorite.
There are often other people around the Engineering Fountain, but thanks to the magic of Photoshop, you would never know. ;-)
Jenna's heels were SO fun.
The pillars of Hovde add such a regal and iconic look for portraits.
I always recommend Hovde as a favorite spot for Purdue graduation photos. They are so epic, not to mention the lighting is always nicely directional.
And finally, a spot with the Bell Tower in the back is a must. Congratulations Jenna! It was an honor to take your Purdue graduation photos.
